Language¶
Western Armenian (Արեւմտահայերէն) is one of the two standardized forms of Modern Armenian, the other being Eastern Armenian. Western Armenian dialects were spoken in the western part of historical Armenia. Following the extermination of the Armenian population during the Armenian Genocide of 1915, Western Armenian is now only spoken in the Armenian diaspora communities around the world. It's spoken by the Armenians in Canada, United States, Lebanon, Syria, France, Turkey and many other countries. It's also spoken by Hemshin people and the Armenians that reside in Abkhazia.
